I'm suppose to disconnect the battery to install my new Donaldson Blackwing (per the directions). When I reconnect the battery, do I have to do any thing special? I know the electronics in the car are above and beyond the normal car, therefore, I was wondering if there was any steps or sequences I would have to follow to reset stuff.
Re: Question about disconnecting my battery... (Atlas)
For what it's worth, I didn't bother to disconnect the battery when I installed the Blackwing on my 2001, and didn't have any trouble. No strange problems, no codes thrown. I didn't want to have to deal with re-setting radio stations, memory, etc.
Re: Question about disconnecting my battery... (COBrien)
I always ignore that step when all you are doing is disconnecting a couple of sensors and plugging them back in when the key is not on/running. I installed the Blackwing on my 99 without disconnecting the battery with no problems or codes.
I did my CAGS the same way. I think that step is there mostly as a fail-safe in case someone forgets and leaves the key on while trying to do the mod, or maybe for the dummy who inadvertently gets into some wiring that is hot or slips with a screwdriver and cuts into a hot cable, etc. That's my only guess anyway because there's no power to any of these sensors when the key is off, so I can't see any other reason for it.
Re: Question about disconnecting my battery... (Closer_2001)
How about battery disconnect during medium term storage? I store the car in Miami & fly up about once a month. I haven't disconnected the battery yet for storage fearing reprogramming of stereo, tire pressure sensors, etc. Anyone done a medium term disconnect?

When disconnecting the battery, make sure radio is off to prevent "LOC"...You will have to reset key fobs and radio presets.Idle will relearn itself with normal driving...Thats it ;)
