I'm upgrading the tired brakes on my '98 w/ Z06 calipers (along with cross-drilled rotors). Other than the cool red paint job, are the Z06 calipers advantageous over the stock ones?

The only difference is paint.
Also, cross drilled rotors are not a performance benefit, unless you are a drag racer or autocrosser looking to reduce weight maybe.
Chevy claims the calipers on the c6 are a bit stronger. Maybe a z51 caliper/rotor setup would be a nice upgrade
