a friend of mine has a hurst shifter out of a 00 camaro ss and was wanting to know if that would fit in my 97 c5 it is alot shorter throw.
The F-body shifter is a two piece unit with a removable stick. It has different threads on the stick so none of the Corvette ***** will work on it.
As far as whether the shift mechanism and baseplate will match up with the Corvette transmission, I would imagine not otherwise Hurst would not have bothered to go to the expense of tooling up a new shifter when they could simply market the existing shifter at a considerable profit vs cost advantage.
Nope, don't think so.
I had a 96 SS with Hurst shifter and the design was totally different.
The Camaro shifter actually fit into the top of the transmission housing and sealed to the case. The C5 shifter is mounted in its own housing in the tunnel with shift linkage that goes back to the transmission.
