AC Temperature display is DIM!

The Temperature Display on my 98 seems to be growing dimmer everyday. It does get brighter when I turn on the lights and turn the dash lights up all the way.

Has anyone else had this happen? What is the fix, short of taking it to the dealer?

I was thinking of pulling the display module off and looking for some load resistors and resoldering them. I fixed my 96 Impala SS odometer display this way.

Jeff, I had the same problem on my 99 Coupe a few months ago and posted a similar question on thje forum. I tapped on the lcd display several times and got it to work, but eventually stopped working. I eventually took it back and got the whole unit replaced. Works fine now. I still had the unit under warranty. Hope this helps.

Have you checked the popout light/instrument panel dimmer ? It's just below the gauge pod on the drivers side. It may be "turned down".

Jeff, I think you'll need the dealer to fix this; ours was doing that and I had the car in for something else and the tech noticed and fixed it under warranty; he also said the A/C would eventually quit if not addressed.
Good luck (that "head" cost over 300).

Mine was flickering, I took it in and it was a loose battery cable.

Thanks for the replies. My car is out of the initial warranty. If I cannot fix it, maybe the extended warranty will cover it. I will let you know what I find.

Mine seems fo be fading & getting dimmer... it's now very hard to see in the daylight...

Please post back & let us know if the extended warranty covers it.
