I'm thinking about pulling my engine from the top with a disconnect at the torque tube. I am also going to do a TC at the same time. This job is already big enough, so I would rather not pull the transmission. I am keep ing the stock 3.15s. Can i unbolt the torque tube and slide it forward from the transaxle to change the TC without messing with the rear end?
tia,
tony
not many pull their own motors here, i drop them on the xmember, never tried going up w/ the motor
if you have the motor out, i'd say it would take an hour or so to drop the rear xmember w/ trans/diff/tt, the brake lines stay w/ the body, you'll see the wire harnesses for the A4 sensors, conn. for the fuel sys and taillights
Working by myself on jackstands I had the entire drivetrain removed from an 01 Z06 in just under 4 hours, it's alot easier than it looks and the transmission (on both auto's and manual trannys) can be removed with the torque tube in the car so unless the motor absolutely has to be removed for something else I'd say remove the tranny not the engine.
thanks for the replies.
We don't have access to a lift, and the engine is definately coming out to do head/cam rebuild. I just thought it might be easier to unbolt the plate from the transmission and slide it forward.
