Porting stock throttle body??

I am about to have my heads installed and was thinking of having the stock throttle body ported while it was in the shop. Anyone have thoughts on porting the stock TB? Worth the $200.00 or should I just look into a BBK or something???

$200 sounds kinda high. New Era has an exchange for $75. Scroll down to the bottom of the page.

I had my TB ported by Mark Shaner, the throttle response improved noticable. I have not tested it on the dyno but having a more responsive combination is worth the investment.

Does it work OK? No codes, No high / fast cold start idle, etc?

I've heard / read that some ported TBs cause some problems that may require tuning to get to run correctly. Is this mod a true bolt-on, or does it require a hook up to LS1 Edit to make it idle & run correctly?
