Default active handling on straight road?

Just got back from a trip to Los Angeles...good times. Vette ran beautifully! My first long trip with it. It rained for a couple hours and I figured out real quick that I need new weather stripping when my left shoulder got soaked. And on very straight stretches of road my "service active handling" light came on 4 times! I pulled over and rand the diagnostic test and C1287H came up each time. I cleared it and restarted the car and the message went away....but returned obviously. What could be causing this message to come up randomly and always be labeled as history? Please help!!!!!!

I was getting an Excessive Wheel Speed Variation for my right front, along with Service ABS/Active Handling/Traction Control lights, intermittently only when it was cold out or wet. I disconnected my right front wheel sensor harness connectors at both ends, and then filled them with dielectric grease. Problem went away all summer and throughout the fall. In mid-winter the codes started again. This time, I disconnected the harness again, and per Bill Curlee's posts decided to look at the pins more carefully. I only saw a "microscopic" variation on one female pin, and stuck a small screw driver in there and bent the pin so it looked even like the rest. Then I swapped the right harness with the left harness. Problem has not returned and I've even been caught on long trips when pouring rains developed. I figure that if I was getting the error only in the front right, and the problem returns on the left front, then I'll just swap out the wheel sensor harness. If the problem returns on the right again, I'll at least know it's the connector on the main harness (The main harness looks like bear to replace), so I'll replace that one connector. So far, so good though since the harness swap. (KNOCK ON MY WOODEN HEAD)

oh boy...welcome to my world of C1287. I have this problem too since last year, i have yet to resolve it. I have cleaned the major ground splices in the front of the engine bay, i had my friend clean and adjust the connectors at the wheels, i measured voltage varations at the Steering position sensor itself.... and I still get this code. I used to get this code after about 15 mins of driving C1287.... now I get the code instantly, as soon as I turn the steering wheel, and I get C1288 as well.

i have not had the time to bring my vette to the dealer, and have them run the tech 2, but either the steering position sensor has to be adjusted/calibrated, or be replaced (in my case). I have no warranty.

good luck, and keep us posted.
