Hi Guys
Have recently acquired a 2001 ZO6 here in Britian. Wonderful!
Roads here are a bit narrow but still who cares.
However I cannot find any technical manuals here.
One question, How do I adjust the parking brake.
Can I shorten the cable from inside? Or do I need to remove the wheels.
Any help, or the ISBN of a reasonable technical manual would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Paul Venn
I have found the parking brakes will go out of adjustment after 3 to 5,000 miles of driving... they just seem to loosen up because of a faulty Star adjustment.
I followed Evil-Twins how to in the link above a few months ago... it worked perfectly...
Another of hisw tricks, when you adjust the star wheel .... open up the pads as wide as will still permit the rotor to fit over them.
Thanks for the info. I will try the driving backwards today, but am off for a 3000 mile trip round Europe Wednesday and will have to postypone taking the brakes apart until my return
Regards to all who replied

I did the drive backwards and put on the Ebrake yesterday. Didn't go very fast and only did it 2 times. My Ebrake works very good now, so it must have done something.

When adjusting the parking brakes. Do as mentioned above. open up just enough to clear the drums. But if you will notice, the outside edge of the braking surface will have a small lip where the shoes do not touch. Sand that down and you can adjust the brakes just a fraction tighter and still get the drum back on. If you dont remove that lip, you will notice that while putting the rotor back on it will be real tight until you seat it all the way back. After you clear that lip you could use just a click or two more ajustment. Why there is no access hole behind to adjust with a spoon is beyond me.
Learned my lesson yesterday. Got out of my car to run inside a gas station (such a slight slope that you couldn't even tell) and before I reach the front door this guy goes "Dude - you're rollin" Sure enough, I turn around to see my car slowly backing out into the open parking lot. Luckily, I had the top off, so I just leaned in a pulled as hard as I could on the already set parking break. A little embarrasing, but at least I didn't hit anything. I kindly thanked the man who kept my car from backing into a gas pump.

I adjusted mine once at 1000 miles it took 43 clicks to get it right, six years later and 61,000 miles later, I could stop my car doing 30 mph with my ebrake... it is as positive and reliable as any one would want.
Mosr people either do nor diengage their ebrake, or they did not adjust it properly in the beginning.. the rotor should slide on tighly, once seated
the drum gap increases.... my ebrake lever when fully locked up sits at 45 degrees.. it is fully disengaged at 30 degrees.
Pulling the handle slowly 4 or 5 times in a row is supposted to make the adjustment
No it doesnt, that will only take the slack out of the cable... it does not effect the inter-fit between the shoe and the drum... you need to adjust the star adjuster. in 6 years and 62,000 miles have never had to adjust the cable.....
