It Looks to me like the collectors must hang down much lower than stock, but have not seen enough examples to be able to tell. Are some brands lower than others? Anyone experience any problems from this?
2 weeks ago, member posted he hit pothole and crushed 2 tubes on that side. the pic looked like hell. He was thinking of having them cut out and replaced at a muffler shop.
My car is very low for the street, and last time I was under the car I notice my Kooks LT's were scraped up a bit. I think LT's do decrease your ground clearance, as I even heard mine scrape going over a speed bump yesterday. My A&A rocker rails and frame savers have had quite a work out lately.
Some do. Dynatechs and SW seem to be most out of harm's way. I have SWs and they are highter than frame . Have installed Dynatechs and they tuck up fine. From pictures the Kooks and LGs can take a beating. Seems like the longest tube models can't tuck up as well.
Dynatech collectors hang down at least 1/2" lower than stock. I haven't actually measured, but they're not flush with the bottom of the car like the stock cats are.
Got the TPIS installed on mine. Went to the garage to see how low they hang. Noticed not a scratch (I am not a lowered vette). Mine hang about 1/2 inch lower than stock but they are not the lowest point on the car. Hec, the front engine/suspension cradle is lower than my collectors. It would bump/scratch before my collectors would hit anything. The TPIS headers are of the slip over deisign, where they slip over the random cats. I could lower this car with out any fear of the headers scraping on anything.
By the way, love my headers. Great bang for the buck. One of the best performance gainers amungst all the headers out there.

I have a set of long tubes on my 2001 vette that I purchased that way.
I was scraping everwhere I was going including my driveway. The vette was lowered by the previous owner, so I raised it back-up and installed A&A rocker rails and wheels on the front.
I'm not sure brand of headers are on my vette, but they definitely hang lower than the stock exhaust by about an 1".
I've seen some headers that don't use the tab flange to connect to the stock exhaust (slip overs) that appear to give you better ground cleareance.
