What would happen if I put the larger 85mm maf into my 99 that currently has the 75mm maf? Would it be plug-n-play or would tuning be required? And if this were combined with the LS6 intake what gains could this yield on an otherwise stock engine?

01 and up MAFs have the IAT sensor built in and use a different plug. You would have to find an adapter harness, or do some cutting and splicing to make it work.

Mark you can put on the larger screenless 02 and up Z 85mm MAF on your '99 but you would have to get a 2001 and up airbridge, wiring adapter harness since the plug is different on 2001 and up than your 99 and most importantly, you will need a tuning or any tuning software like EFI live, LS1 Edit etc to change your PCM's table over to the new MAF table.

I believe you can also buy a calibrated MAF along with the adapter wiring harness if you dont have the tuning software.

Here is a good read on the topic

HTHs

Thanks for the link Nouman! good info!

I was thinking of buying the larger (85mm) maf ends to put on my factory maf but from what I read on this link it sounds like that would not match up with the maf tables in the pcm. I like the idea of the 02 screenless maf with larger airbridge. I could acquire the parts and keep them on standby until I do the Ls6 intake and headers and combine all the new parts together with a custom tune. Should I also be looking to upgrade the throttle body or are they all the same?
