Default Corvette Questions

When I first start my car I hear a ticking sound or a slight knock some where around the top of the engine of my 2002 C5, 39,000 miles. When the car warms up it goes away. Someone said it may be an injector and that most C5 make some noise when they fist start up. Is this true?

Also have code H1214C traction control. Tried to reset but wont reset. Tried activating the abs by hitting the brakes but that didn't work. The abs is not working at all. Before I take the car to the dealer any help? I read up on a threads how to check for grounds, wires, sensors but can't seem to them .

Thanks
John D

my 02 with 7k makes the same noise until warmed up and from what i understand it is piston slap.i myself dont know what to do about it.there is so much info on this subject its hard to plan my next move.some say its normal, some say take it to the dealer before your GMPP expires.and the only way to fix it is to pull the motor and replace the rings and im not sure i want that done, how ever i dont want the motor to self distruct.i think as long as it stops once warmed up it should be ok. good luck

GM bought my truck back from me because of piston slap and excessive oil consumption. Are you consuming any oil? IMHO piston slap is very bad and causes wear on your engine. Good luck.

I think your code problem is much more serious then the piston slap. If you take it to the dealer, they will just start replacing everything until it goes away. All on your dime might I say. I would check for grounding problems and bad connections first. Look at the electrical post by Bill Curlee in the tech section for an idea of how to begin.

Good luck,

Clayton from Las Vegas
