Default Removing front lowering bolts on C5?

I Know its been discussed before but can you remove the front lowering bolts altogether without adding any kind of pad. Ive got em out of my 2000 C5 and was gonna cut the bushings but thought maybe to just leave em out all together. Any drawbacks?

Default front bolts

You can take out the front bolts all together, but that leaves the fiberglass spring rubbing on metal. Not a good thing. Most put a small pad between the spring and the suspension. I just cut all of the bolt off except for about a 3/32 of the pad. I did not feel the little bit of difference was worth letting the spring rub.

Actually the steel thread insert on the spring sits on the aluminum a-arm. It does not move that much, back and forth about a half an inch. It can be noisy though. Sort of a grinding sound at times. I machined the ends of my leaf spring and adapted a piece of aluminum to the end. Same shape as the spring but the tip is now aluminum. I machined out a pocket in the A-Arm and put in a machined 1/2" thick piece of Delrin. As low as it will possibly go now but very quiet. Delrin is very tough stuff and self lubricating.
