I have a 2002 C5Z. I recently got a nail in one of my rear tires. It was so close to the sidewall that it was not repairable. I bought 2 new Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercars (not EMT). The front tires are on backorder, but I have not bought them yet. Do I need to also replace the front tires? They still have a lot of wear left on them judging by the wear indicators. The tires have 25,000 miles on them. Since they are expensive, I hate to replace them if it is not necessary.
I was running Michelin ps on the rear and the Goodyears on the front for about six months during which time the car handled terribly. If there was any uneveness in the road, particularly at highway speeds, it felt like I had to fight the wheel to stay in my lane. Once I matched the Michelins to the front, the car felt totally different and much easier to drive.

I am going to also put Goodyears on the front. I just want to use up a little more tread on them first.
It doesn't hurt to run the runflats on the front and nons on the back. I think that the reason Neverfastenough's car wondered was the Goodyears in general, not the mismatch. My 99 wondered anytime I ran over ANY uneven surface with the Eagles. Once I switched to Michelin PilotSports, the wondering went away.

I tried the same thing. If you run non-runflats in the back with run-flats in the front, handling can get very interesting.
Unintentional lane changes are exciting, but it gets old fast. My wife was afraid to drive the car.
When I put matching non-runflats on the front, the handling problem was cured.
I'd go with a quick stop and just get 2 outside tires and take out a 1/2 a round of wedge. Oops Sorry I just got done watching the Nascar Race I taped Sunday
Just changing the 2 rears for now will be fine. as long as you change them in pairs your good.
Edit: Ah Ha! I dindn't read the whole post. Now the Run Flat v Non Run Flat that could be an issue. I think I'd stay away from that also.
You have a 02 Z06 so your car didn't have runflats.
You will not have a problem with new rears and keeping the good fronts. I usually replace fronts every other time I replace tires and then put the fronts on the forum for sale. Depending on your driving you can sometimes get 3x the mileage on the front compared to the rears.

oops sorry I forgot Z's don't come with runflats so I deleted my resoponse to avoid confusion!
