clutch or tranny?
ok here is my situation, my 98 corvette just hit 74k miles. The previous owner babied the car (the original tires stayed on the car until 60k miles, and have all receipts to prove that). The pressure plate and the bearing make a lot of shuddering noise when taking off in gear and can even be heard when cruising. The clutch does not engage until it the pedal reaches the very top position which tells me the clutch is shot. Getting into first is sometimes tough and shifts into 2nd, and 3rd are rarely smooth. I guess my question is will my problems be solved by installing a new clutch/flywheel assembly or does it sound like I need a new tranny?
