What is the top speed on a ZO6? I have done headers, exhaust, programmer and cold air intake and was only hitting 170 mph. ran out of road but not much was left in the car. i figured i might have seen 173 to 175mph. i heard this is what a stock ZO6 could do? whats wrong with this picture? help!!!

Need a little more detail. What gear were you in? do you have stock rear gears 3.42? What was your RPM.

Top speed is achieved in 5th gear per the spec sheet.

The FRC body style inhibits it's top speed capabilities and even with the additional hp it can easily be outrun by a coupe. GM listed the top speed at 168 mph, whereas the coupe can attain 173 mph with 55 less crank horsepower.Note the C5R race version had the coupe style rear window due to better aerodynamics...

Default top speed

running 3:42 gears. the rpm was near 6300 to 6400 had little room left, i think i would have needed the salt flats to get to the top.at that speed i was only getting an 1mph increace every 10 seconds

The higher the gears, the less top end speed you'll have. An A4 with 2.73 gears supposedly can top out at 175 mph according to GM. The aerodynamics of the Z06 doesn't help as well. Your extra horsepower from the mods gave you some extra mph but if you had a coupe with lower gears, you could have topped out a bit more. Still, 170 mph is nothing to sneeze at.

I hit 170 with 3:90 Gears and had 400 rpm left to my limiter. Pulled hard to 160 shift light came on in OD, and took about 10 seconds to 170 I know because I was counting them out thinking it would go by faster. BTW that was when the 99 C5 was at 327 rwhp, I must have had a tail wind.

On my C5 I did 160mph in 6th with the top down with the stock exhaust and intake and the car was still pulling. Not hard but the rpm's were still increasing every so slightly. I don't recall what they were at when I shut it down because the last thing on my mind at that time was the rpm's.

You don't say what gear you're in (5th, or 6th). Some of the speed limiting factor is the transmission gearing. The Z06 tranny has lower gearing than the MN6 making the final drive ratios lower overall for the coupes. (Z06 - 5th gear .84 vs MN6 - 5th gear .75)

Default top speep

i was in 5th gear. it really is scary going that fast. the thought of a cop or a animal in the road makes me shiver. could you imagine? i cant see how a 2006 ZO6 could go to 205mph at least thats what i heard. but then again i also heard 195mph. i guess a supercharger would put me around the 250mph area. (lol)

Default things come at u real fast at 170mph.......

ummm, imagine that your prized Z06 is stationary on the road. meanwhile, the world around you is screaming toward u at 165mph. hey, farmer ted just pulled out 300 yds away with his combine, but now that hulk of john deere is oddly sliding sideways at you around 165mph..... or, hey.... bambi is feeling really frisky today and just jumped out 200 yards down the road but is on steroids and charging your z06 at 165 mph.....

bascially, there's absolutely nothing u can do. ur car is toast and most likely, u r 2..... sumthin 2 think about.....

Yup. That's why that was the first and last time I've ever tested it. Anymore I do highspeed runs in my truck and leave the vette for more spirited city and highway driving. Something about doing 120mph in a lifted 4x4 7000lb truck just seems safer than 160mph in a 3000lb piece of plastic.
