Cost: Forged Motor?

I have a LS6 with AFR 205's, Small cam, Fast 78mm, with TB, TPIS LT, X-Pipe, Corsca Indy, Major mods. and want to know what it would cost to add forged internals? Average cost for a shop to do it compared to how much you could do it for in the garage.

What is your intentions for forging the motor? Nitrous, blower?

$3,000 - $3,500 for a forged 346 short block. You definitely get what you pay for when it comes to motors. Don't shop price.

Im getting a forged 383 shortblock for a little higher than that.

If your going with NOS like mine, you will want the pistons gas ported, the entire assy balanced and blue printed with the best parts. Mine was $7k.

I got my forged 346 from force fed high performance for $2600 with good parts,.. callies h beam rods and diamond pistons arp mains and rod bolts

do it yourself for $1800-$2000 in good parts. Forged rods, pistons, rings, gaskets, studs/bolts, machine work etc...Buying a forged short block, check out this list

Im going for a 150-200 wet shot, and just rather be on the safe side. I have done it before on a stock bottom, needless to say didn't last long. Thanks
