I did a search on alignment and cost and everything came up with alignments are a lot cheaper than new tires. That being said, I just had 4 new gs-d3's put on and was told I needed an alignment, which they could do for $209. That sounded like a lot, so I passed. ~$60 is what I expect for an alignment. Am I crazy? Do Vettes require anything special. I wouldn't think so! Please advise.
I'm getting a full set of GS-D3s myself on Thursday. The local, well respected franchised dealer "Belle Tire" is charging $65 for a 4 wheel alignment and will set up per my request with a little less neg. camber .
I just had mine aligned at the dealer yesterday and it cost me $129.00. They claim that the vettes take a long time and are a pain in the arss. By the way, I have no complaints about my dealership regarding service or cust svce.
There's this expression in the alignment business "toe and go".... meaning you usually get what you pay for.
It takes 1 hour for alignment machine setup, measurement, and teardown (Hunter rack). On average it takes an additional hour for adjustments depending on how close the initial settings are and how precise the results need to be.

I did them for years and it NEVER took over an hour start to finish.
I rarely ever had a comeback.
My steering wheels were always straight also.
If the guy takes that long, he's too slow.
Thanks for reinforcing my suspicion of them trying to get over on me. I'd never heard of an alignment costing more than $100. But this is the first time I had a quote for my C5. My C4 was about $80 at the dealership. I ordered my tires thru Tire Rack and delivered to this local tire installer who uses Hunter mounting and balancing machines. I guess this is their way of trying to make money off just installing the tires. Sort of like gas stations that do Virginia inspections. I'm sure they see $$ when a Vette pulls in.
Try Tony's Corvettes in Gaithersburg. They are less than you were quoted, and will give you a perfect allignment to the specs you want. They aligned several of my cars for years when I lived in MD.
