I need to replace the tires on my 01 Z06. I live in Vancouver, Canada so the choices I have are limited. I got quoted by two local tire shops, one with the Firestone Wide Ovals and one with the Goodyear F1 Supercar tires. Funny thing is that they are almost the same price. The Goodyears are only $200 more. I often see folks recommending the Wide Oval beacuse of price, but I'm wondering is the price is the same would they have bought the F1's?
BTW, for you folks in the US, forget everyting you know about tire prices. In Canada, tires cost 200% more than in the US and the pricing structures are out to lunch(:
On tirerack.com the Firestone Wide Ovals come out to around $600 for the set. Not sure how much it'd be to ship them to Canada. BTW, I'm not vouching for the Firestone's, just passing along the price I've found. I just got my Z06 so I'm not in the know when it comes to replacement tires.

The GY GSD3's in the 295-35-18 will be out in a few weeks, at least here in the USofA. Check to see if you can get those. They were rated #1 by car and driver. The Firestone Firehawk Wide Ovals are probably the best bang for the buck, but they have a smaller footprint than the GY's.

Glad to see they are finally coming out with the stock sizes. Guess I will wait a little while yet for them.

Well, kinda. They will have a 295/35/18, but you'll have to use a 275/40/17 for the front because there is no 265.
Yes, 20 threads on here say it fits, but unless you know that piece of information already, your tire salesperson is going to tell you he can't find the GSD3 in the correct size for your Z.
I'm actually running the Toyo Proxies now as they came on the car when I bought it. I can't find them around here for a reasonable price so I've ruled them out. I'm also hesitant about buying from the US and then trying to resolve any issue that might arise. I'm willing to pay for the peace of mind of buying locally. That being said, no one actually answered my question Given equal pricing which would you buy, the Firestone or Goodyear??

To answer your question, I'd go with the GY. I wasn't suggesting you buy your tires in the US, I was suggesting you find out if the GSD3s are going to be avail in Canada since they will be available here in a few weeks. I agree with you 100%, I wouldn't buy tires in another country if I couldn't have then warranted or serviced in my own country.

I havent been on the site in a long while, but back a while the Kumho MX was very popular. They are made in Korea so you should be able to get them up there. They have the run flat version as well. There was a supply problem but the demand should have abated somewhat by now. Good luck in your choice, its kinda hard to decide these days.
