Thinking about getting new tires I have Goodyear's RF now, up in air about staying with RF. Do all Run flats get noise as they age more so then the non Run Flats?
Most tires will get noisier as they wear, but the run flats due to their construction tend to be noisier than non run flats.
As the tire wears it goes down into the harder compound rubber, most high performance tires will have this same problem. EMT tires usually start off with more noise because of the construction required to support no air pressure, some may be quieter than others but I don't know for sure.
there are two issues with tire noise,
1) The car itself has no isolation, it has a short wheel base ( tires are two feet from your ears.. The wheel wells are plastic with hollow areas acting line a drum to amplify the tire noise right into the cabin. There is an open chamber that runs directly from this hollow area right into the cabin via the hatch or trunk water drains.
2) Run Flat construction and high carbon content make the run flats noisier, as the tires get older the rubber gets harder, this happens with most tires, but because of the high carbon content, the tires are that much noisier.
