Installing Texas-Speed long tube headers
I have been told the following link on how to install FLP longtubes on ls1howto.com works great when installing the TSP headers from the top.

Please lets get all the info we can on this install in here to help out all the people buying the TSP headers
Mine arrive on Wednesday!!!1 I cant wait!

I'll have mine whenever my longblock gets finished........Come on Jason
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
I changed the spark plugs while i was at it to TR-55's
All i have left to do is install the 02's, fit up the connection pipes, put the dip stick back in, put the coil packs back on, put the altenator back on, and then double check everything...reflash the PCM ( i deleted AIR and rear 02's) and then Fire her up

so far the biggest pain in the *** were cleaning the thread locker off the manifold bolts......if i would have known what a PITA it was to do I would have bought new bolts. ( u really need a bench grinder with a brush wheel to clean them good) It took me an hour to clean them by hand using my cordless drill and a brush wheel attatchment.
heres a tip i learned today-
when installing the passenger side header take the starter ALMOST off. leave one bolt in losely until you slide the header in to the point the starter is in the way. then get under the car and remove the starter bolt and lift it UP so the header can slide under it. Once the header clears the starter, bolt the starter back up tight BEFORE you tighten up the header bolts. My starter never touched the ground, remember you want to push the starter UP(from under the car) so the header slides under it.
Infacthte hardest part was routing the 02 sensor wires so they wouldnt touch the headers. As well as drilling a hole for clearanceof the drivers side 02( i think it was drivers side) I learned after struggling with drilling a hole that it was just easier to get my dremel out and put an aluminum cutting bit (same bit used to port heads with) and then made an oval shaped hole with that.........the drill was a waste of my time sheeesh.
I got the connection pipes all done as well, I didnt actually drop the hpipe all the way, i just removed the 2 rear hanger bolts and the 2 front ones and let the hpipe hang. this way I could cut off the cats then keep holdling the pipes up to measure where to cut. Having a 24Volt battery powered Sawzall really helped too LOL
The little tabs on the headers look like they are supposed to bolt up to the front where the hpipe used to bolt up. But they are off by atleast an inch or 2....no big deal because the exhaust is sturdy when the rears are attatched and everyting is bolted up. Just thought TSP might wanna know they are a little off on that LOL
Im actually very happy with how EASY this install was, It was time consuming and tedious work, but there were no times where I was struggling to fit a wrench somewhere. As far as the band clamps used to hook up the connection pipes, they get REAL tight if you torque them down, I have no signs of leaks with the connection pipes at this point .
I ditched the Cats, rear 02's, and AIR system......used LT1 edit to delete all the codes out for the 02's and AIR, fired her up and it sounded AWESOME!!!! I cant even explain how great it sounds. Im in love all over again.
Texas Speed has delivered again!!!! TSP will be supplying my car with mods from this point forward. Jason was very helpful on the phone when I asked a few questions be4 i started the install.
oh one more thing, I am not getting any of the dreaded CODES that seem to pop up after some header installs. Just make sure you got the 02 sensors correct.....I also hear Ceramic Coated headers usually never have a problem with slow response 02 codes since they hold heat in better then uncoated Stainless Steel.
I Love them! Ill try and get pics tomorrow if I get a chance.
And the sound is INCREADIBLE!
Also, looks like one member took ~9 hrs over 2 days.....anyone else get this done in a day without pushing too hard? I don't have a lift easily available....will this be a huge deal? I have plenty of jack stands now so I'm planning on getting the car ~24" off the ground if necessary...
I am going to go get my wideband 02 bung welded in tomorrow morning. If they will let me in the shop while its on the lift I will snap some pictures.
As for getting the car up off the ground I just drove the front onto rhino ramps, then used my floor jack and jacked up the front and put jack stands under it. Since I installed the headers from the top on both sides I didnt need alot of clearance under the car. Only enough room for me to work under it. Infact most of the time I just left the front on the rhino ramps. It actually made it easier to work on the car from the top since I didnt have to bend over so much to reach anything.

If you get a chance, post those pics and also where you located your extra wideband bung....I'm considering using one of my after cat 02 bungs since I have the secondary 02's tuned out anwyay, I can unplug one, add the wideband and test, and then swap back.....

I plan on putting the 02 bung after the Hpipe towards the rear of the car. I am not running cats and I always had the best luck with my wideband running it towards the rear of the car. Im going to hardwire my LM1 unit into the trunk so that nothing can be seen, then mount my XD-1 guage up front since it can control the LM1 unit from the drivers seat. I can data log by just tapping a button on the gauge
