Speed Density tuning? What is it?

Its pretty much just turning the MAF sensor off and tuning the ecu to run a certain a/f. The only problem I ever see with speed density is its unability to adjust to climate changes. With a maf, you can program the maf to demand a certain a/f and it will adjust to climate changes.

Thanks or the info guys. I remember the pre 94 LT1's were SD. Charlie from A&A recommends to tune my car in SD when I get the 402 - I didn't know you could switch easily.
Is SD going to be a smog problem?
