[QUOTE=LF97C5Vette]I'm very interested in this, but couldn't find much information on it. Does anybody have any links to a write up on this forum for this? Or perhaps links to sites where i can order the materials for this?
I also have been considering deleting the mufflers and running straight pipes, but I need more courage.
for exhaust tubing see:

BTW, I live in a county that has NO emissions Checks, however tampering with Emission components that are 'functional' is still considered illegal.
Also, I don't think there is any volume ordinence as far as exhaust goes is there? Harleys are HELLA loud, and the audio systems on darn near every import is usually crazy loud too, I can't imagine this being too loud. Has anyone w/ straight pipes had problems before?
(Thurston County, WA)
I have never seen a county that DIDN'T have some kind of noise ordinance. Your new exhaust will likely violate it. Now, enforcement will vary from place to place and from officer to officer.
I guess my car isn't supposed to exceed 95 dBA 20" from exhaust tip while stationary. And shouldn't go over 78dBA while cruising...
I haven't heard these with just straight pipes, but it's probably close to those i would imagine. My friend's 69 Chevelle with Open headers has yet to get pulled over and/or ticketed though.... hehe I think i'll be ok.
I'm giong to talk to a muffler shop tonight see, if maybe they can do the welding better than I...
You can build just about anything if you have the time and tools. It is a tight fit around the diff, so that makes the system harder to fab up. If you are looking at just getting rid of the mufflers, then I would start with factory pipes and modify them. This will save you a ton of time trying to get the right curve for going over the diff. We have built systems from raw pipes it's a pain, and we have wacked up stock stuff and that was easy.
