Fuel fill problem?????
First time I thought maybe gas cap wasn't back on good. Took it off and put back on making sure it is on.
Car ok. Then this morning same thing but when I finished filling I made sure cap was on good. First stop I come to it does it just like last week.
OK you corvette experts , what do I do???????
Hi there,
THAT IS THE PROBLEM.
Here is why, the fuel system you have is classified FFS, which is a lower emissions system. Everything was redesigned on that system compared to your 97.
When you top off, you are forcing fuel into the charcoal canister and into the ventilation lines, as soon as the engine is started.
Those ventilation lines are pulsed on as soon as you start your engine.
Therefore, you are adding additional fuel above and beyond what your engine needs.
Once the system clicks, thats it. Do not go any further. This system is designed to stop fuel flow into the canister if you overfill it, but it CANNOT stop the suction of the evap system when the engine is turned on.
I bet, if you disconnect your EVAP purge line at the engine, you will see fuel in it.
Do NOT top off and let us know how you make out.

From Corvette Mechanix
Just found it in owners manual to NOT top OFF.
