Default LS1/LS6 Weaknesses

What are the "weak links" in the LS1/6 motors. I seem to remember reading that it was the rods and that the LS1 was actually a stronger motor but im not positive. Will a rod and piston upgrade be strong enough to support 650rwhp on these motors or are there additional internal mods that need to be done? Is there any benefit to doing a knige edge and micro polish on the crank? This seems to be hugely popular when building 4 cylinder motors. Im still kinda new to the LS1/6 power but, im learning a little bit everyday. Thanks and I appreciate everyone's thoughts and opinions.

You will get some responses here. However, this is a great question for LS1TECH.com.

I do know that the weak links in the LS1 and somewhat in the LS6 are the same. 1. Rod Bolts are not that great. High RPM builds require upgraded bolts. 2. Push rods have been known to bend again in High RPM environments. 3. Some of the older LS1's have weak oil pumps. Upgrade to the newer 2001+ LS6 pump. Overall the crank is very strong. OpticZ06 in the Forced Induction forum had a stock displacement/stock crank boosted LSX at around 700+ rwhp. He just changed the rods and pistons.
