Does the Honker system from Callaway take the air directly from the same fog light holes as the Vararam, or does it just take it from in front of the radiator like several of the other inlet systems.
It is hard to tell from the pictures on the Callaway website.
If anyone has pictures of the Honker could they post them please.
So the Honker requires you to cut a hole. Is there a good quality system out there that makes some power without cuttin up your car. Should I buy an extra stock piece so I can always put the original back on. Don't get wrong I caged and gutted my mustang and took out the inner bumpers (behind the skins) but that was a mustang and this is a ZO6 vette.
i installed my honker yesterday and if you look under the nose of your car at the AC condenser you'll see the black plastic shroud opposite of it.
that's where the honker gets it's air from once you cut the bigazz hole in it.
no pics at this time.
Is the Honker a bottom-feeder? For some reason, I didn't think that it was. Currently, I'm running a Blackwing with cut out foglight shrouds, but was considering some investigation of the Honker myself.

Yes it is a bottom feeder. Because of the way the intake is configured I don't think water ingestion would be as much of a concern as the way other bottom-feeders are designed. The filter supplied is one of the best made and the curvature would not force water in as easily. I had a Vortex on a previous car and even with that had no issues driving in the rain.

You sound like your are trying to avoid the Vararam... it makes the power and you do not have to cut anything. IF you follow CF member Cajundude 's instructions on the install it is sraightforward install and the fit is fine.
I had the Vararam and was pleased with it. My tuner switched me to the Honker and I found eight more RWHP and NO dead spots as I had with the Vararam. I am well pleased, but don't get me wrong the Vararam is a good product, I just think the Callaway Honker is superior!

the honker is carb legal 50 states. works better than a vararam, and the vararam lets in a lot of dirt!!! you have to up grade the filter. there made cheep! they don't fit. as far as putting them on, vararam is a little harder. i would also look at MTI new intake system. i also think that moving the MAF up closer made a difference. kinda like the MTI design under the shroud. it also comes with a new shroud so it's a bolt in. i would still like the MAF moved up. i took a haltech trap off, and put the honker on, there was a big difference in how it sounded and ran. and it just keeps getting faster as the computer catches up. also went with the vinci programer at the same time. for a car without a lot of mods you can't go wrong.

Halltech stinger doesn't require and cutting..Though I cut out the fog light surrounds of my vert to feed it some air.
