Hi
My 2000 C5 is having a low clutch. There is no problem shifting gear but the pedal is to low and engaging to early. After driving for a while the pedal gets a little higher, but not mutch. It has been like this for a long time now so i dont think it it is a leak in the hydraulic. Will air bleeading the system help or do i have to exchange the master cylinder or something else? The oil on the hydraulic system is dirty. Milage on my car is 20k.
I had the same problem a couple of weeks ago. I removed the clutch assist sprint on the clutch petal under the dash and replaced the fluid in reservoir. That helped for a little while. I ordered a new master cylinder from Fred Beans. Before I could install the new master I noticed that the slave was leaking.
I found a transmission shop that will install a new slave and clutch for $350 labor. They were also able to get the Z06 clutch upgrade kit and Z06 slave from a local GM dealer for about the same price as I can get it online. I am waiting the parts to arrive. I am also having a bleeder extension installed while they are doing the clutch change.
I did have the same problem, and the slave cyl. was leaking. 350.00 to replace clutch is a great deal, I did my own but for for 350. probably would have gone that way. C5_cab you might try bleeding the system but thats not an easy task.
