I have a bunch of questions about replacing my H-pipe for an X-pipe.
What's the diameter of the H-pipe inlets?
Will it be any change in performance by doing this?
Can you go x-pipe and still keep the cats?
What I want to get is NOT a "full" x-pipe, but just the cross section area as shown in the picture below. In order for me to order it, I need to know what diameter to order the dual inlets: 2.25" 2.5" or 3" to fit my stock exhaust system on my 02 Z06 (which one I want?)
I plan on ordering the LG Street Headers that can be purchased without the x-pipe for $695. The X-pipe below is only $85.00 if I go 3" but I don't know what size fits. For now, I just want the X-pipe
Thanks for your help

Goose, I'm doing the exact same thing. I'm doing it to reduce the "burble" when decelerating. Also, you should see some improvement in exhasut balancing. If you actually cut your "H" crossover in half when you remove it, you'll see that even though the outside of the pipe is 2 1/2 " the actual internal size of the crossover is only 1/2 to 3/4 " in diameter.

Too bad you're not closer to Monticello, Minnesota, I have a full center section, with a welded in X-pipe, and cats, off a 2000 C5, that would bolt right into your car, that you could have for $50. It's in perfect condition, and only 25,000 miles on it. I just need to get rid of it as I have no use for it. I have installed longtubes, w/high flow cats, etc. Shipping on these things is fairly high unfortunately, I think about $125-150, so probably cheaper for you to try to score one nearer to you.

If your going to put on the longtube headers I believe the x pipe that comes with the kit is 3in starting at the collector then bolts to muffler pipes at the flages
my local muffler shop. "mienekie" put the same one in my cpe for $120-$125 installed. weld it in there. they can hang up on things and it would suck to have it come loose and fall off. especialy going down the road and thru someones windshield.
Does it make a difference where you put the x-pipe,I have seen them before the cats and some after the cats.I'm getting ready to install the rest of my exhaust and was thinking about putting them after my stock cats, will that help at all or am I wasting money?? Does it make a diff how close or how far the x-pipe is from the headers.I do want to keep my stock cats,I don't know why yet but for now I do.
