Hey whats up guys, im going to be installing the MS3 soon. How do you guys like it, driveability? and hp and track times. Now i turn a 12.30 and am hoping to hit mid 11's.
i didn't see headers in your sig. i would recomend you do them with a cam of this size. also you might want to get yourself some gears, at least 3:90s. a buddy of mine has one in his Z28 and it does drive suprisingly well for a cam that big, but he also has 4:30s. warm start are a little rough but other than that it is ok. good luck. btw if i rember correctly the car that dynoed 441 had a fast 90 on it.
I made 433 on an 01 zo6 with the MS3 + Kooks lt & off road X and halltech TRAP, no other mods.
Some people have said the dyno jet that we tuned is is a little conservative but ill stick with my 433rwhp.
Car drives great. I can drive mine at 1100RPMs as long as im giving it gas, i can not drive at 1100rpms and not give it any gas, it will buck a little.
The driveablity of the cam is better than i was expecting, but keep in mind it is a big cam.It has a little surge below 1500 but nothing that isnt easily managable. The 441 graph above is mine the car has everything listed on the graph along with a callaway honker cai,slp underdrive and a home ported throttle body. Thanks for throwing it up crazee.
I havent really had a chance to run through all the gears thanks to the factory Z06 clutch but i have run through 3 and 4th and the car pulls really hard from 3500 to 7000.The most important thing about making the cam driveable is getting a good tune on it and at a minimum i would want at least 3.42 gears.
Your #s impressed me! Doing the same setup.
Hopefully 3.42s will be enough because I want to keep the gear.
Running either a 100 or 150 shot. Probably stick to the 100, Im scared.
I would so with a yank SS3200 or SS3600. Trust me you will not notice the difference in day to day driving, but when you are ready to get on it, you will be in the lower end of where the power comes in for this cam. At that point hold on and make sure you have the tires to harness the power.
Well I broke my car pretty bad yesterday and it looks like the converer will be out. Pro torque will restall it for $250 but they said 2800-3200 is the max they can do with it. I really like their converters so I guess I will have to hope thats enough. If I have enough money left to do the head and cam swap like planned after this set back.

I had a Pro Torque converter in my car. With a cam like the MS3 you will be leaving quite a bit of performance on the table if you don't upgrade to a higher stalling more efficent T/C. There is a very good reason why the fastest A4s on the forum aren't runnng PT converters.
I have a G5X-3 cam with 3.90's which is not that far off from the MS3. I had a yank PT 4000. At the track with ET's streets, you would get slammed into the seat. On the street from a dead stop or a roll I would just light up the tires. As well for day to day driving leaving a stop light or low speed driving (<40) around town this thing was very loose, almost aggravating for day to day use. About a month ago, the front pump in the tranny blew. While I had it out, I had the converter rebuilt back to the original SS3600 I started with. With the 3.90's, you can hardly tell the difference between when it was stock, and what it is now with the exception of the firmer shifts of the FLP Level V tranny. However I definitely can tell the difference off the line as it is a little more sluggish (though still fast) than with the 4000 converter. If I have to do it again, I will be going back to a 4000 stall but with the same SS setup I have now. Currently I am trying to track down what I think is a vacuum leak somewhere. Once I have this resolved, I will be heading back to the track to see where the new setup puts me as I now have a set of CCW skinnies for the front. Last time out I was around ~11.05 w/ a 1.57 60' and +2700' DA. It has been well over a year and a half since last getting the car to the track, so I am interested to see what happens.
