Default Looking to upgrade wheels, help

Yes like a lot of people I too plan to do the same...

I was thinking of going with the new Z07 wheels and going 18 in the front and 19 in the back.

I have seen a lot of guys go 18 all around. I plan to use a wider tire on the back so rotating them is not an option. What other reasons would you need to go 18 all around?

Thanks

there seems to be a lot more tire choices in 18in rather than 19in. I know a few guys that are pushing some big rwhp and have decided to go with 18inch all around because they can buy sticker tires.

I run 18 inch all around Michellin Pilot Sport Cups. These are R-compound tires and once they heat up really stick to the road. the fronts are 295s and the rears are 315s.

For racing tires I run 17 inch all around again because of the amount of tires I can pick from and the cost is usually cheaper.

IMHO
I dont see any advantage to running 19inch except for looks.

Default wheels

Yea I think you're right the 19's are for looks .I just install the Z07 wheels on my 99 18's fronts and 19's rear this weekend and the car looks great with the bigger wheels but 19's are a little hard to fine.
I like the look on the car so I would do 18's front and 19's rear. I will be posting before and after pictures sometime this week.

I agree totally. I also believe that, depending on how you use your car, at the drags anyway, the 17's offer a little more "sidewall flex", thereby possibly offering a little better bite AND the possible benefit of a little more "give" so the drivetrain doesn't get exposed to such a viscious "jerk" as the sidewalls flex or give a little. I bought some re-pro 18x10.5 for my '00 so I could go to a 315/30/18 size and still look stock, not to mention the economics of having to buy only the two rear wheels, as the fronts would match the rears. If you go to the 17" size wheels, this offers a lot of choices as far as tire compounds, etc., and the ZR-1 wheels are relatively cheap. If I had it to do over again, I would probably go to the 18x12 Z-06 wheels in the re-pro version, as 10.5 is the factory size, and with the mini-tubs, you could run the 345 size and stay within the rear fenders, i.e., the tires wouldn't stick out too far . I wanted to stay away from the Z-06 wheels originally as EVERYONE seemed to be changing over to them. Just my .02!Good luck!

I went 18's all the way around and for the street they probably will handle better than 18 on the front and 19 on the rear, plus I run the Nitto NT-01s and they are a very good handling tire
