What is the "L" shaped hook for on the left side of the stock shifter I took a picture of? It faces the front of the car when it's installed.
My B&M shifter I just put in does not have the spot for the hook. I was wondering what it was for and if it was there originally, why doesnt B&M have a spot for it?
This picture shows where it fits into the transmission. In the black piece right in front of the shifter.

It's a "lock" which centers the factory shifter during installation, to help locate the shifter while you tighten the clamp bolt on the shift rod. Once aligned/clamped down, the pin is pulled up to free the shifter, and serves no other purpose.
