I was just wondering if the A&A exhaust mod and others like it (mid-America's) version really worked--if so how does it sound, i'm sure I could get my muffler guy to make and install a set for about $50 Thanks!
It seems that everyone with them are very impressed with the sound...good investment, $$$ wise. You can get tips to finish off the look. I would have got it if I hadn't of got an excellent deal on a used B&B system.
I had the A&A on my FRC and I loved the sound. However, over time, I got used to the sound and wanted more so I eventually moved on to the PRT's. But, for the money, it's a great mod.
I just had the A&A Ex. mod put on my 2001 coupe about 2 months ago... It is not that noticable at idle... at startup you get a really nice deep growl and sound of power... at WOT the car comes alive !!! Well worth the money... it takes 30-40 minutes for a muffler shop to complete the install.
For me its OK because I want to keep a stock setup and it doesn't disturb cruise noise inside the car... Also, 2001 models are slightly quieter than previous models do to the factory Pre-Cats. I think the Pre-Cats also might help against the popping that some people got when decelerating with 1997-2000 models. I get no popping while driving but I can make it pop only by Revving Up right after starting before it warms up.
YES! I just put is on my 97 Coupe A4 and its sounds great. I didn't like the gargle sound upon decel, so I added a X pipe. That made a big difference in sound. I LOVE the way my car sounds now. I paid about $180 total on my exhaust and I don't think the sound gets any better. I also added a Vortex box after that and MAN the car sounds awesome under WOT. But when cruising, no drone, no resonation, sounds slightly louder than stock. Thats an awesome combo...growl when you want it, silence when you don't.
Oh, I also added the Corsa tips that are on sale right now in the Mall and the Polished plate in between the tips. Nice! :D
General consensus is that none of the exhaust mods add HP. If you will notice in the Cat-back system adds that claim a HP gain, they include a high efficiency air filter as part of the package. The power gain comes from better intake, not better exhaust. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong (like I have to ask this bunch to correct me :D ).
