Default 90MM FAST Intake or not...???

Should I or shouldn't I? I can't decide. My Z is going in for some AFR 205's and a mild cam in two weeks and I can't decide if I should spring for the FAST or not. Who's done it and who hasn't?? Wish you would have, happy you did, or glad you didn't?? I know it's only going to be worth 15rwhp or so... and it's a very subjective decision, but your opinions would be much appreciated! Anyone do H/C and later put on the FAST? MPG loss?

THANKS

mild cam and stock cubes will probably not gain that much.

Probably 10-15 hp difference with that combo and a FAST 90 manifold and TB. That's a pretty bad bang for the buck ratio if you ask me.

If you're using a good tuner you'll see some gains.

Sounds like your question.
Also, since your intake is coming off the labor should be minimal. Suspect the "bang for buck" will be pretty good. How does it compare to headers?

I did H/C and then later added the Fast 90mm and a Nick Williams TB. I previously had an LPE ported TB and stock LS6 (port matched) intake.

I was tickled to death with the part throttle drivability and responsiveness. Sure, topend was stronger....but I don't stand on it that often. It was worth it for part throttle improvements.

I gained 26 rwhp adding the Fast 90 Intake along with the 90 mm TB, but what unleashed it on the dyno was removing the MAF with a speed density tune. If you every plan to use N20 buy the burst panel option (cheap insurance)

I was also considering the LSX/NW 90 this winter but backed off on it. At the time I couldn't find any definite data on the potential gains (h/c package W/ LTs and CAI).

Instead I went with a Callaway large bore billet TB and a high flow MTI Racing composite MAFS. I am expecting about 10 rwp and 14 rwt increase with this set-up, plan to dyno in a few weeks, feels stronger especially in the mid rpm range.

Since then I have seen several before/after dyno runs (figures) on the LSX 90 I now think I left at least 5-8 rwhp and 5-6 rwt on the table by not going with the fast 90.

If I was do to it agaim I would definetly go woth the Fast 90. Also, be aware that NW is no longer producing the 90 mm TP for the C5. You may want to contact them right away if you are interested in the NW90

Just my 02. Hope this helps.

I have the 90mm FAST and the 90mm LS2 TB. I also have a large cube motor, and after spending the big bucks, I felt it was really more of a no brainer than your situation is. I mean, after dropping over 10 grand, whats another grand? So I got one. From what I have seen, there is very little loss at lower revs as far as torque goes (M.P.G.). And seeing as how the AFR 205's are actually more efficient than the factory head, at both low and high revs, whatever small amount of low speed torque lost with the FAST would be more than an even swap when the 205's are factored in. If you can, check out the LS1/LS6 book by Will Handzel, as mentioned in these posts. They have a direct comparo with the LS6 intake when running a small (.580 lift, 210 dur. @ .050 lift on intake, 216 dur. @ .050 lift exh. ) cam and picked up about 10 horses. With your set-up, you may see even more, like 15+ horses, and after all the bucks you have spent, or will spend, I would think you would go for it, but thats just my .02. On the other hand, there may be another new intake just over the horizon that will be at SEMA later this year and be even better..... who knows.
