Does the tranny have to come down with a differential swap?
Any how to swap rear-end or web site with step by step info would really help... Had a used diff. put in but it has a whine in it so I now have a new one ready to go in and am thinking of doing the swap myself. Thanks... Oh yah, It's an automatic!

I have done a diff swap for a manual trans and the trans and diff have to be lowered together for the diff to clear the tub. Then separate the diff from the trans.
I did my auto this winter - the tranny has to be lowered in order to slide the differential off of the transmission output shaft - check Cajundude's website - he has an EXCELLENT write up, w/ pictures and torque specs, for a step by step removal and install of a rear differential - print Cajundude's write up, take it to your shop/garage, and you can do it yourself.
Mike Mercury also has a good write up on the subject.
Do a search also, you likely will find links to these writeups and other useful information.
