Is powder coating wheels dangerous?

my previously owned 03 MY Z06 that i bought brand new 3 years ago to date, had its oringal oem wheels completed powder coated black by me (I took it to a prof. shop), and 20K miles there are no issues. This sounds like an old wives tale to me!!
