Pressure Sensor Fitment
Any tire experts out there?
I put a set of WELD Racing wheels on my car a year ago. I recently cracked one in a pothole. Pro Trucks ordered the new replacement (which I paid full price for) but the pressure sensor would not fit thru the wheel enough to allow the outside nut to fit. Their solution was to grind the inside of the wheel so the stem would stick thru far enough, but they could not get the new o-ring seal (whick I purchased for $2.18 at the local dealer)to work on the inside (it leaked)-----so they put the o-ring on the outside of the wheel.
I dont like this arrangement, but they say it is not leaking.
Any advice?

O-rings are made to seal in a groove. Pressure pushes on them and they extrude into the gap. You are using o-ring as a "washer", it is extruding in a "un-ideal" surface of the threads. No guarantees on this setup, although I would not expect it to ever cause a large blow-out type leak. If it starts to leak your pressure sensors will pick it up.
