Column lock problem or not?

Column lock problem or not?
So tonight My vette left me stranded at the beach while on a hott date with 
her of all people! Went to start her up (car) and got the service column lock on the DIC ( I have not had the dealer do the recall yet), but to my supprize the wheel was not locked in ANY way. Started up the car, and got the pull key wait 10 seconds message. Did just that, started it back up, and as soon as you hit like 2-3mph the car just dies! I cleared all error codes from the DIC in diagnostic mode, disconnected the battery etc, and still had the same problem. I also noticed that security light stayed on constantly for some reason? What could be the problem here, I've never heard of the column lock causing the car to die out when driving? It's almost like the ignition just plain cuts off! 
I had to car towed to the dealer to have the recall work done, hopefully thats the problem... Any help would be greatly appreciated!
