So I'm to the point that I need to remove the CV axle assembly from the upright.
The splined shaft will not come out. . .
the CV is a bit rusty on the backside. . .
I've prepped it with WD40 from the front and the back. . .
and a rubber mallet isn't getting it done.
How hard can I hit it and what should I hit it with?
there is a press made for this specific problem, you can get it at most parts stores, or soak w/ pb blaster, put the axle nut back on and block of wood placed on top of nut, give the axle a hit w/ a ball peen
i've done dozens of bearings, never needed the press
