There are at least two types of C5 FOBS, early and late. Mine are 1999 (early) and my batteries were dead. They split apart and the batteries are standard replaceable. Make sure you held the two buttons down long enough to reprogram. If it's more then that, I can't help you. I have cured many problems by disconnecting the car battery for a minute or so.

Last week I had to replace the battery in my 99 as a result both fobs quit working one would reset by holding down both the lock and unlock buttons for 7 full seconds. In my owners manual on page 2.11 it decribes how to reprogram through the the DIC.
