Awhile back I saw a post where someone talked about having their torque tube bent because their clutch was not balanced. I have a cartek clutch and a fidanza aluminum flywheel and was wondering if I need to get it balanced or can I just put it in.
call Dave at Cartek, i recently installed one of these behind a 660rwhp A&A Procharger motor; he suggested resurfacing the stock f/w with the Cartek clutch, that's what we did and it's worked great
no experience w/ the Al f/w's, was advised not use that material on hp applications
nice ET/mpt btw
edit: get the Cartek master also, you'll need to send them a core, allows the pedal height to be adjusted
I'd suggget you call Mallett Cars in Cleveland and ask them about balancing the flywheel. I just bought a Z06 clutch off of them and they told me they get all their flywheels balanced. Said the acceptable GM specs are too broad. I think he told me the shop he uses charges $250 for the balancing.
Great guys and source of information and even parts. They have a lot of take off brand new parts laying around. Paid $200 for the entire clutch and even picked up a flywheel that had been balanced but never used. I know they said they are using Ebay to sell these parts too.
