Okay, appears the culprit for my diff leaking is most likely the passenger case seal. I purchased a new O-ring, and I have pulled the upper/lower control arm/hub/halfshaft out. I can't seem to find the leak exactly but I do know its coming from that side, fluid was gettign on the half shaft and slinging everywhere.. so I assume it must be from the top of the case since it was getting on the halfshaft... it dosent seem to leak when it sits so it dosent help much. Anyone have a way to find out exactly where the leak is comign from? The fluid is new and its a new rebuild so everything is squeeky clean, the fluid is very hard to see beleive it or not, and when it sits it almost vanishes... hard to see oil stains on aluminum.
My question is when I pull the side of the diff off, put a new o-ring on, and RTV the flange... how should I deal with the DTE brace? should I loose everything down and retorque the whole brace (that will be a bitch) or should I torque down the cover to spec w/ the bracket, and then zero lash and set preload on that bar only? I assume it might be a good idae to do that when the RTV is still tacky so I dont break the seal... does that make sense?
hmm, question.. I see theres a drainage hole from the bleeder on the right side.. is it possible if that breather gets clogged that it would dump fluid into the seal housing?
