I'm about to be stepping out of the world of runflats for the much needed traction of Nittos and new rims. My question is, which shafts do I need to be upgrading. I've heard you can get away with upgrading just one of them. I don't have a whole lot of money, but either is an option, just don't want to spend money where it's not needed. I currently am running a 383 making 486/460. I'm probably gonna be launching at 3000-4000 rpm. Nitrous will be in semi-near future, but I probably won't spray out of da hole. I have 3.42 gears and the diff is stock.
Are there any other parts in the diff I'll need to upgrade at this point?
Would it just be cheaper to just buy a hardened diff unit with 4.10's at this point? I'm fairly sure it'd be less labor this way, correct?
How much is a hardened diff w/ upgraded shafts?
The left side (long) shaft is the weakest one. The right side (short) shaft has a lot less trouble. Install the heavy duty left shaft and a differential brace and you will much stronger than stock.
Contact DTE for complete differentials. They build some really nice units. It would probably be cheaper in the long run to do it all at once.
