Took my 2001 Vette to the dealer I bought it from for an alignment. They said that they spent 2 ½ hrs doing the alignment and charged me $230. This seems high to me. Are Vettes difficult to align? Camber was off on right front and somewhat less on right rear. What have you paid for a 4 wheel alignment? Is this a reasonable price?
That is way too high. I live in B.F.E. northern Idaho and I took my 2002 Z06 to the Chevy dealer and they did an awesome job and it cost $68.00
Even if they charged by the hour their shop rate would have to be over $100.00!!!
Did you get an estimate before hand? If not you might have to pay it.
Good luck,
Nick
They gave me a phone quote of $89. When I questioned them they said that the quote was for a front alignment only and my Vette needed a 4 wheel alignment. They DO have a sign up that states that their shop labor charge is $100/hr (normal for Boston area). But I thought that dealers used a flat published rate for stuff like this.

Dealers, if no one else, know that a Vette gets a 4 wheel alignment. When you called for the quote, did you tell them it was a Vette? If you did and then when you went in they raised the price, I would have raised hell from one end of that dealership to the other. At any rate, as others have indicated, it should only cost about $75, at a good independent shop. "Mr GoodWrench", if anyone, should be able to get it done in an hour or less in which case their MAX charge should only be $100.
If there's a local Firestone tire service, you can pay 175 for a lifetime 4 wheel alignment. I've done it 6 times.
I did the same thing, anytime at any Firestone store. Find a Firestone store that will do it to your specs, not just "within factory specs." It's a great deal. My local racing set up place(Custom alignment, Mountain View, CA) charges $200 for a single alignment to customer specs. You can't beat the one time fee from Firestone. You will need to find specs for how you drive your car. You can PM me with your driving characteristics or how you use your car, if you need specs.
Less than $100…most new cars on the road today get 4 wheel alignments…I would call the dealer and get a phone quote for a 4-wheel and see what they quote. Than !!!!!!!!!!! The C5 is very easy to do compaired to older Vettes or other cars..
Kenkon, I am going back and complaining. Not sure what it will yield, might just be therapy. I dont't like being taken!
The dealer is penny wise and a dollar foolish. They just lost a customer! I won't buy any more cars from them and they won't get any more of my service business!

A 4 wheel alignement takes less than an hour....
it takes 30 minutes to set the car up.. adjustments take anywhere for 20 minutes to 30 minutes..
