I'm looking into the possibility of having to replace my alternator on my '02 Z06 and from what I can gather there appears to be different part numbers for the alternators used for an automatic transmission and the one used for a manual transmission. Yet another person I talked to said there is no difference at all.
So which is true? And if there IS a difference, what the heck is it? Are they interchangeable at all?
i had to do an alt swap last yr because of belt slippage issues with my maggy s/c. belt was sliding off or moving 1 groove on the alt on decel.
the stock one from my 2000 did not have the "clutched" pulley.
the one i bought here on the board was from an 03. it had the clutched pulley. no diff in alt performance from what i've seen. this fixed my belt migrating issue on decel.
i still have the stock 2000 alt if u need one.
