Default I need 50 more HP - help please

I have a 2002 coupe with the MN6. The engine has been diagnosed with piston slap or something else wrong internally. They can't be sure until they tear it down. At the time I did not want to have them tear down the engine when the car was so new. Instead I asked Chevy for and received a 4 year extension of the warranty on my complete engine (for free). They said I can either use the warranty if something breaks or have it torn down and repaired whenever I choose.

I am now thinking of keeping this car even if I get a new Vette. If I have the engine torn down, wouldn't it be a good time to do what needs to be done internally to get a little more HP? Chevy would be paying the labor and I would pay for the upgrade parts. I don't want anything too radical because it will still be just a street machine. l'd like to combine the engine mods with either a Corsa or other good exhuast system. My car now seems like it lacks punch ever since I got to drive a friend's 2006 Z06. I am not looking for that kind of performance but around 400 - 425 HP would be good. What can you suggest? All opinions and advice welcomed!

The Dealership will only use original parts. No hi performance parts will be used. Not with a factory warranty or any warranty. Could you ever imagine if the warranty companies would let you upgrade parts if you blow your motor up???? People would be blowing engines up right and left, then having the dealership rebuild a bad *** motor for free.

That's not necessarily true at all. I know of someone who had their dealer install an LG heads and cam package under warranty. I'm not sure if that ended warranty coverage, but the dealership did install the parts. If they have to tear the motor down it's not any more work to install a different heads and cam setup.

Thanks for your reply. I should have stated that I did not expect any further warranty coverage. I just want them to do the labor for free. I was thinking cam and heads but I am not a racer. I just know I want it to have more power than it has now. I guess memory fades with time but I swear my 1964 Corvette I had in my youth was faster than this 2002. I guess what I need to know is where am I going to get the most bang for my bucks. Cam, heads, headers???
