Default How To......racetronix Hotwire Kit

I got this wiring harness today, but there is no schematic of how to wire it up. Most of it is pretty basic because the leads are marked. But some of it I am not 100% sure because it isn't marked. Like the Red wire with the Aligator clip!!! Anyone know of where I can get any kind of instructions? I looked at Racetronix website already.

I just Looked at A&A's web site and couldn't find anything. I can't believe they didn't send any kind of info with the kit. I'm more curious where the best place to run the wiring, and where to mount the Relay at.

I printed the instructions when I installed mine and I'll look around for them. It looks like Andy pulled his down from the site.

The relay gets secured on the fuel filter mount bolt. and the wires run above the tunnel plate up to the alternator. I used the ground stud on the frame rail to secure the connector up by the hood support rod. You'll see it when you get there. The wires can be fished thru the tunnel with a coat hanger.

Thanks for the info. I do have my tunnel plate off for being replaced with an aftermarket plate, so I won't have to do any fishing. Did you run your wire from the pump up along beside the fuel line into the tunnel? Right now I am trying to decide if I should chance on pulling the fuel line off the sending unit. I ran the car until it was pretty much on the EMPTY mark. So there shouldn't be much gas in there. I'm not sure what that wire is for that was with the hose that has the aligator clip on one end. I am assuming it's for draining the tank with the pump. But where it plugs into I have no idea! I tired just running the hose from the firewall and turning on the key, but I guess because I have no starter on, nothing is working except some weak faint high pitch noise from the horn area.
There is a connector between the fuel pump end, and the relay! Is that for a "Boost-a-pump"?
Also, did you have much slack after both ends was hooked up? If so, did you end up putting the extra wire?

Default pump wiring

A while back I ran across a how-to with pictures here on the forum. You might try a search or hopefully someone who remembers where it was will chime in. One of the members installed it. Had a good write-up with the pics.

I did that and didn't find anything. Went back again later while taking a break, but this time search the Archives and found a Thread that had a link to a LPE pump installation (Which I am installing also), PLUS, a link to Canjundude's home page where he had an even better install of not only the pump, but the wiring harness, and explains how to use that mystery red wire with the aligator clip. Plus he had some awesome hi resolution pics. It all makes since now. If you read this Canjundude......THANKS.

When I got the racetronics fuel pump system, I was annoyed that the system didn't come with any instructions back then. I was told by racetronics that the system was intended and sold as a dealer installed item and that accounted for the lack of instructions. Back then Andy helped me with the install instructions and racetronics chimed in to say they were available if there were any questions.

A basic typed single sheet would be helpful since even a dealer would have a 'first install'. You can't argue one point....they are first rate products and very unique.

Exactly. Even a dealership has and uses Service Manuals too.

Well speaking of the STEALERSHIPS! I just got back from there parts department. They wanted 80-something dollars just for the gasket that goes between the sending unit cover and fuel tank, and they wanted 14 dollars and something "EACH", for the 6 little screws that bolts it on. Needless to say I didn't buy it. I sent Gene at Fred Beans a note, hopefully he has them at a better price.

This is the first result in Google when still decades later, we're trying to find instructions for RaceTronix products. This is last thing I'll buy from them. I just got off the phone with their tech support, they can't send instructions via email. Have to register for some obscure forum, then get verified. Why they didn't send the instructions in the box with the product is baffling.

What a pain in the ***. Never again.

Does anyone have actual install instructions for the C5 hotwire kit? The plug ins are easy but where they intended to mount the relay, run the wires isn't obvious.
