Default How to Remove Speaker Grills???

Has anyone ever painted their speaker grills. I was thinking of painting the speaker covers front & rear, the body color of my Z. I did the door handles recently and it came out pretty good. And how do you get them off? The front doors i have an idea, but the back i haven't a clue. Thanks in advance!

I removed mine this winter and had them painted. Turned out real well. The front ones you pull the door panel and on the inside of the door panels the speaker grills have several tabs that you bend straight to remove the grill. The rear ones, are simple, take a couple of small screwdrivers and push down at about 10 and 2 oclock and pull out and down. Thats it.
Good Luck

Since the grills are steel, you might want to consider powder coating. Just make sure the coater is skillful or experienced when applying to a mesh surface, as there may be clogging issues if not. If the powder is properly applied, it will not clog the mesh openings when it flows out under heat in the curing oven. The same can happen with regular paint too, as the little openings are very small, especially around the edges where there are curves and will clog easily. Powder coating is very very durable is the biggest advantage, especially on the front speakers where you may get the occasional rub from a shoe, etc.

When spray painting the grill, prime, then paint. If any holes are clogged, use compressed air. You won't have a problem, real, real, simple.
