Default AC display Very dim - Almost all black

AC display on my '02 coupe has gone from dim to almost black. Slowly got worse over a period of several months. It never was as bright as the radio, but now it is almost impossible to see.
The AC and heater functions just fine. I can only set it after dark. I set the digital temperature in the blind during the day.
DIC volts nomial. They vary, but in what seems to be a normal range.
Anyone have a clue?

This thread from RPOZ4Z gives two ways to get it fixed and both have merit. Sending it to the guy for $50 is reasonable and will fix it. You can also fix it yourself. I did one myself and it worked. You need a pointed soldering iron and some of that very fine solder you can buy at an electronics supply store. It requires a little skill and I was not that happy with my job but it worked.

There are a bunch of resistors in the unit and they are wired in parallel probably to dissipate heat (instead of using a single resistor). I think they get hot and oxidize the rather minimal solder joint on the surface mount resistors.

Default You guys are awesome! Job well done!

Congrats to this forum on another job well done. AND let me say this as well. The forum was a big part of my decision to buy a new Corvette and pick it up at the museum back in 2001 in the days after 9/11 when I was changing my traveling life style.
Thanks again for the support.
