Not only am I a Modaholic, now I'm drag racing junkie. However, from what I see here I need to work on my launches. My best time so far (only mods are some Pilot Sports on Mallet magnesium rims) is a 13.22 with a 2.2X 60'.
Can I use the 0-60mph feature on the GTech for some sort of comparison? Is it reliable? What would be a good time? Under 4.7sec? Thanks.
While I don't do much drag racing these days, I had doubts about the G-Tech . I communicated with many members of this forum who seemed to like it so I ordered one. I found it very helpful when doing mods and working with my MAFT (Translator). It is surprisingly accurate and would appear to be within 1/10 to 2/10 seconds accurate in the quarter mile. O to 60 times appear to be a bit generous toward the driver. This depends on much G force goes into the launch. A smooth but strong launch will be pretty accurate. Try one. I think most vendors will allow a trial period as long as you save the packaging .
Re: Is the GTech-Pro good for practicing? (sandyg)
It is a fun, inexpensive tool. I have found it to be very accurate in everything except trap speeds which is usally about 4-5mph high. It is great for practicing your launch, I use the 0-60 as my gauge for that . .and if I hook up good, I will keep it going for the 1/4 mile  OFFTOPIC. That beer smiley face is the best . .makes me thirsty everytime I see it :seeya
I don't think that it is overly generous on the 1/4 mile trap speeds. Rather the track time slips show an average speed for the last 50' of the 1/4 mile run, while the G-tech shows actual speed when crossing the 1/4 mile mark. A good guage which is very accurate if mounted correctly.
