hi all,
march i lost a windshield during a road trip.
had it replaced while i was on the road trip, including the weather seal.
1 week later the weather stripping split at the upper pillar area.
so last week had it replaced again at a local shop. warrantees are great.
today noticed the exact same thing happened again. the local shop said bring it in next week and they'll look at it...kinda gave me some grief...like "what did u do" kinda attitude, but were willing to make it right if it was thier fault.
has anybody seen or had problems like this:
any suggestions of what causes this??? i saw the package that the weather strip came out of and it was GM..
I'd be willing to bet that the glass used was either not OEM, or it was not to specification. If so, it would cause stress and likely result in deformation of the molding/seal. See what it says on the glass, then check it again a car that hasn't had the windshiled replaced.
