Pad them with a piece of wood or metal and use them under the rear crossmember, bridging both sides, or use them with a hockey puck on the side jacking points. If all you're doing is the tires you mentioned in the other post, don't bother, just don't get under the car. Also, loosen the wheel nuts half a turn before you jack up the car, it's hard to get leverage after you jack it up if the wheel's turning with your wrench.
